Formerly known as the “Southern Oregon Book & Author Fair,” held annually in Ashland, the 2011 Fair, with a new name and under the management of Trisha Barnes of the Pacific Northwest Literacy Alliance, will be held at the Padgham Pavilion on the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Central Point, Oregon.

Idylls Press founder and author Debra Murphy will be manning a half-table. Copies of Debra’s novel, The Mystery of Things, will be among the books on sale. And there will be some cool “specials”!

This free-to-the-public annual Northwest author book fair has become a regional favorite over the years. It is also the perfect holiday opportunity for Pacific Northwest readers to meet their favorite local authors and network with other regional readers and authors. It is also the perfect opportunity to kickoff your holiday gift shopping with lots of books, AUTOGRAPHED BOOKS, and m-o-r-e BOOKS!

Admission: Free

Parking: Free parking.

Buses, Vans, and Groups: There is ample parking for large vehicles.

ADA: There are several ADA spaces near the event.  There are no stairs into the event area, and only two small curb ramps between the event and the parking area.

Hours: The Oregon Book and Author Fair is open from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m.

Concessions:  Light food items, snacks, soft drinks and juices will be available for purchase throughout the day.

The Mystery of Things by Debra Murphy

Award-winning author Ellen Gable has published a review of Debra Murphy’s mystery-thriller The Mystery of Things on CatholicFiction.net.

I have been wanting to read The Mystery of Things by Debra Murphy for a long time. I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book recently and, on one rainy Saturday, I finally had an opportunity to read it. I was surprised, on so many levels.

It was a hard-to-put down, compelling tale and one of the most entertaining and engaging Catholic novels I’ve ever read, filled with rich language and beautiful imagery, as well as excellent (and brilliant) writing. There’s a definite Flannery O’Connor feel to it, but this novel was unlike any other Catholic novel I had ever read.
