October 1, 2006:
Midori Snyder, mythopoeic novelist, artist and co-founder of the wonderful Endicott Studio (an "interdisciplinary organization dedicated to the creation and support of mythic art") has posted a lovely blog about the Green Man featuring Maureen McQuerry.
Maureen is the author of Idylls Press’ new YA fantasy Wolfproof, which is being published this month and will soon be available nationwide. The Green Man is a leading character in the story (and my personal favorite.)
For more about the book and Maureen McQuerry, go here.
Here is a bio of Maureen, as well as one of our very own John Murphy, the book’s illustrator.
In the next day or two we’ll have a page up on the Idylls Press website featuring some of John’s illustrations from the book. Click here to read an excerpt.

- GodSpy review by Matthew Lickona (Swimming with Scapulars) of The Mystery of Things
March 2006:
- The April 1, 2006 National Catholic Register contains a front page article by Tim Drake entitled "Catholic Literary Revival?" Idylls Press author/publisher Debra Murphy was interviewed for the piece, along with acclaimed novelist Ron Hansen and Franciscan University of Steubenville literature professor Dr. David Craig. The article can be read online here. [Note: there were a couple of small misquotes or misprints. Debra's “the literary types can get published if they are quiet or if their faith is overt or it’s historical fiction” should read “covert.” (It’s the “overts” that have a bit of a problem in the mainstream.) Too, Debra is quoted as saying “a book like mine (The Mystery of Things) is too Catholic for the Catholic Book Association and a bit too graphic…”) The CBA I mentioned in this context was the (Protestant/Evangelical-oriented) Christian Booksellers Association.]
- Debra Murphy’s The Mystery of Things a finalist in ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year Award. ForeWord Magazine, which reviews small and independent press books, announced their 7th annual Book of the Year Award (BOTYA) finalists, and we were very pleased and proud to learn that Debra Murphy’s The Mystery of Things was among them in the Religious Fiction category. The winners (Gold, silver and bronze medalists) as well as Editor’s Choice Prizes for Fiction and Nonfiction ($1500 each) will be announced at a special program at BookExpo America at the Washington Convention Center in Washington DC Friday, May 19th, 2006.
