Christian News Northwest reviews Wolfproof

June 28th, 2007

Wolfproof, by Maureen Doyle McQuerryChristian News Northwest book review columnist Gail Welborn has written a lovely review of Maureen Doyle McQuerry’s Wolfproof for CNNW’s June 2007 issue.

After giving a nice synopsis of the story, Welborn writes:

[McQuerry's] fresh, descriptive writing will draw children into a land of make-believe similar to Narnia. They will identify with characters Timothy, Sarah and Jessica, three ordinary middle school children who learn to be heroes….The fantasy characters are mythological composites drawn with clever, engaging descriptions. The gripping plot, metaphorical language and fast-paced action make this superbly crafted fantasy adventure a good choice for young readers.Students will see something of themselves in the characters of Timothy James Maxwell, his sister Sarah, and their friend, Jessica, as each learns how to become Wolfproof.
